What a Process!

We're still searching for a place to live, unfortunately. It's been hard finding a furnished place with three bedrooms. We have looked at a few, but haven't had any luck. One was relatively nice and in a good location, but we didn't fall in love with it. I know, we shouldn't be so picky .... but come on, we're in Australia! But, we're really crossing our fingers today. We have an appointment at 4 to view a GORGEOUS beachside apartment. It's a little more than we wanted to pay ... but we don't really have any other choices. If this doesn't work out, we might need to start looking at 2-bedroom units and drawing straws to see who's going to be rooming with one another for five months!

Who would have thought it'd be such a process! Oh well ... hopefully it will all work out in the end. Until then, we're still living out of suitcases and making friends in the hostel.

Last night we went to a free BBQ at a local bar called The Brewery. They had live music and a trivia game. Our team lost, but we still split a bottle of champagne! Once again, we took a midnight swim in the ocean. It was all fun until it started pouring down rain. Oh well, it was still a blast!

Here are a few interesting tidbits about Australia that you might enjoy.
  • When going out at night, the girls get REALLY dressed up. Everyone is in dresses and heels. Yikes - looks like I may need to go shopping. Mom and Dad, feel free to send money :)
  • There aren't as many American brands as I would have expected. Going grocery shopping, everything is unfamiliar and I don't know how to read their food labels because they don't list calories, they list energy. That, and they use the metric system!
  • People walk around barefoot in stores, on the street and in restaurants. No shirt, no shoes ... no problem?!
I'll post some pictures of my new home city soon. My computer is being slow right now.
No worries, mate :)
XOXO, Jennifer Lynn
